چکیده
Problems involving a transition between dense and dilute dispersed phase regimes often require hybridization of Eulerian-Eulerian (EE) Eulerian-Lagrangian (EL) methods for accurate efficient computational modeling. A hybrid EE-EL formulation is developed in this work from first principles, which asymptotes to well-established EE EL limiting conditions. smooth dynamic criterion corresponding algorithm conversion the two representations are developed. To use their respective regions effectiveness, designed as function local volume fraction kinetic energy random uncorrelated motion particles. Several one-dimensional numerical tests conducted analyze limits method (up 65% loading) conditions, at first, without any EL, then ability smoothly vice versa evaluated using prespecified dynamically computed criteria one- two-dimensional tests. Particle evolution frozen turbulence simulated evaluate method's particle trajectory crossing. Finally, used simulating dispersion an initially cloud three-dimensional spherical sector blast.

A numerically convergent Lagrangian–Eulerian simulation method for dispersed two-phase flows
In Lagrangian–Eulerian (LE) simulations of two-way coupled particle-laden flows, the dispersed phase is represented either by real particles or by computational particles. In traditional LE (TLE) simulations, each computational particle is assigned a constant statistical weight, which is defined as the expected number of real particles represented by a computational particle. If the spatial dis...
متن کاملAccurate numerical estimation of interphase momentum transfer in Lagrangian–Eulerian simulations of dispersed two-phase flows
The Lagrangian–Eulerian (LE) approach is used in many computational methods to simulate two-way coupled dispersed two-phase flows. These include averaged equation solvers, as well as direct numerical simulations (DNS) and large-eddy simulations (LES) that approximate the dispersed-phase particles (or droplets or bubbles) as point sources. Accurate calculation of the interphase momentum transfer...

A hybrid Lagrangian-Eulerian (hLE) scheme, combining a particle-based, mesh-free technique with a finitevolume flow solver, is developed for direct simulations of two-phase flows. This approach merges the naturally adaptive nature of particle-based schemes, for efficient representation of the interface between two media, with the relative flexibility offered by grid-based solvers for complex fl...
متن کاملA Hybrid Lagrangian-Eulerian Method (hLE) for Interface Tracking
A hybrid Lagrangian-Eulerian (hLE) scheme, combining a particle-based, mesh-free technique with a finitevolume flow solver, is developed for direct simulations of two-phase flows. The approach uses marker points around the interface and advects the signed distance to the interface in a Lagrangian frame. The kernel–based derivative calculations typical of particle methods are used to extract the...
متن کاملA Local Streamline Eulerian-Lagrangian Method for Two-Phase Flow
A method for solving the saturation equation for two-phase ow is presented. The method may be viewed as an operator splitting method or as an Eulerian-Lagrangian backtracking procedure or as a modiied method of characteristics. For each time step, the method consists of an advection step and a diiusion step. The advection step requires the tracking of streamlines locally around certain integrat...
